Englishfied is a free English dictionary, thesaurus and toolkit for anyone who reads, writes, learns or plays with English. Every page is built to answer your question in the first few seconds: the meaning up top in plain words, then pronunciation, examples, synonyms grouped by meaning, rhymes and word-game facts.

What we believe

Looking up a word should be fast, clean and free. Our pages load quickly on any phone, our tools run in your browser so your text stays private, and ads are kept in fixed spaces so the page never jumps while you read.

Where our definitions come from

Our dictionary is built on openly licensed sources, chiefly Wiktionary, Open English WordNet and the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary. See Sources & licensing for the full list and credits.
